Is Aliexpress Safe Table of Contents
Aliexpress is a popular global B2C online marketplace; it is a subdivision of Alibaba Group. Aliexpress is a popular online marketplace where you can get cheap products. Which brings this question to some people's mind, is Aliexpress safe?
Just like any other online e-commerce platform; most sellers are reputable on this platform but some sellers are just there to scam buyers, which leads to the question, is Aliexpress safe?
With that being said, it is important to know some steps to take while shopping on the Aliexpress site to avoid being scammed.
This blog post will guide you on how to shop safely on Aliexpress.
Aliexpress is a popular business-to-customer online e-commerce platform in China, which sells mostly made-in-China products to customers globally. It is built with the consumers in mind and it's a subsection of Alibaba that sells products directly to consumers.
Aliexpress works like eBay, Aliexpress does not produce its goods. Rather, it allows small business owners to list and sell their products on the platform directly to consumers internationally.
There is no minimum order threshold on Aliexpress, you can buy any quantity of product you want on Aliexpress.
Products on this site are relatively cheap than what you have on other e-commerce sites. And you can also buy a product in different categories.
Just like most e-commerce shops, products are shown on the product listing. So, buyers depend on photos and product descriptions to determine the quality of products. Some sellers capitalize on this to scam potential customers by posting a high-quality photo of a product while delivering poor-quality products.
With this scenario, Aliexpress provides a buyer protection scheme to help weed out scammers and that helps to keep the customers on the safe side in the platform; however, here is how they do it.
The platform offers a full refund for orders that do not arrive: A customer can request a refund if his/her order does not arrive or is delayed beyond the seller's estimated delivery date; if approved, the buyer will receive his money within 15 days.
There is also a partial or full refund of inaccurate listings: If an item is not as described in the product listing or not delivered as stated, the buyer has two refund options for the product which is a partial refund or full refund, by choosing the partial refund option, the customer can have the product and receive a partial refund. When the full refund option is chosen, the buyer can return the product for a full refund.
Once you have any issue with a product you purchased on Aliexpress, the first thing to do is to contact the seller to know if he can solve the problem informally.
If he can't solve it informally, then the buyer has to contact the Aliexpress support team to report the problem. Then the seller will be reminded by the Aliexpress support team and have the opportunity to correct the mistake.
If the problem is not solved, the customer can use the “open a dispute ticket” option with Aliexpress.
If at this point the seller is still silent, the platform “Aliexpress” will give the buyer a full refund.
But if the seller replies, a customer representative from the platform will act as an intermediary between the buyer and seller to check the claims and make a final decision.
If the customer representative intervenes and the issue is solved in the customer's favor, the buyer will get a full refund of the product purchased within 15 days.
Although there is a strict customer protection scheme on Aliexpress, buyers should also take the right step to avoid being scammed on the site, and here are great tips to do that.
